A Yamaha 350 hp outboard costs about $40k EACH or $120k for the three on this boat. Add the price of the boat and electronics, you’d think that people would hire an experienced captain for half a day to learn how to maneuver through such dangerous conditions. The insurance deductible was probably more than the training.

Clearly Jupiter Inlet suffers from undredged shallows near the inlet mouth, causing even middle-sized waves to stack up and break. This should have been recognized earlier on by the skipper.

All these "Inlet's" are a beast in their own ways & knowing them is key to safely traversing them day after day..... seems like the break is out a ways & it's like a huge sandbar that might need dredging but this is my 2nd video looking at this inlet. The first video the guy almost sank his boat in some heavy seas. That's where I saw how far out that the breakers start. Thanks for the video, I'm new here so lots to look thru. peace

His nerves were fine, nothing a shot/beer wouldn't handle but he has no common sense b/c that Small Craft/Wind Advisories were put UP for him? He didn't get the message but perhaps now he did? You guys had a great point of view showing how the waves were coming in & they LQQK'd like they were 9-12 feet but hard to say. Once the boat was listing he had already allowed too much water in w/o getting the pump running? He needed the pumps rocking & to get some speed to throw the water into the back until it could get pumped out? He was lucky and this outing did damage to hid boat, he got out w/o sinking but he got so much water that it went into the places that are least protected & will start doing what salt water does-damaging it! But it was a lesson & he did get out alive - Kudo's for that ! Next time, check the Marine Advisories?

If you are not that skilled piloting that boat and you are choosing to go out in those conditions, at least go out by yourself, don't bring other people with you. They are lucky they did not have to swim.
